2 financial gates, both vs live market cap. Debt < 30%, Cash < 30%. No accounts-receivable ratio. Most common conservative threshold.

DJIM (Dow Jones Islamic)

3 gates, vs trailing 24-month avg market cap. Debt < 33%, Cash < 33%, Receivables < 33%. Industry-standard for Dow Jones Islamic indices.

MSCI Islamic (Series)

3 gates, vs total assets. Debt ≤ 33.33%, Cash ≤ 33.33%, Receivables + Cash combined ≤ 33.33%. Used by MSCI Islamic Index family.

MSCI Islamic M-Series

Same 3 gates, but vs trailing 36-month avg market cap (instead of total assets). Less volatile during market drawdowns.

FTSE Yasaar

Total-assets denominator with a 50% Real Value gate (debt + receivables + cash all individually < 33.33%).

S&P Shariah

36-month avg market cap denominator with a stricter 33% threshold. Used by S&P Shariah Index family.

Gate 1 — Sector

Excludes haram industries: banking, conventional insurance, alcohol, tobacco, gambling, cannabis, pork, adult entertainment, weapons. Quinn applies GICS classification + Quintarthai's manual override layer.

Gate 2 — Financial Ratios

Per-standard interest-bearing debt, cash + interest-bearing securities, and (in DJIM/MSCI/FTSE) accounts receivable ratios. Each standard has different denominators and thresholds.

Gate 3 — Purification

For passing tickers with ≤ 5% haram revenue: Quinn computes the purification % and tells you exactly how much of each dividend to donate to a recognized Islamic charity.
